WALT we are learing to write a persuasive speech.
1. My speech is about my experiences during Covid-19 Lockdown. Lockdown was a very scary time for everyone, especially my family because my mum and dad had to work. They were essential workers.
2. My mum works at the hospital and my dad had to deliver peoples gas bottles for their cooking and hot water. While they were at work my nan looked after me, my brother and my sister, so she became part of our bubble.
3. Staying at home with my nan we got to do lots of things. Me and Connor made cupcakes. We had to take turns at mixing ingredients and then scooping them into the cupcake holders. We then got to decorate and eat them.
4. Our nan made us work outside too. We planted vege seeds, weeded the driveway, pruned the trees and moved rubbish. She then took us for walks around the block that was the scariest part. We panicked when we saw another person walking and knew to keep our distance.
5. After the first couple of days my mum was allowed to stay home to look after us. We weren’t allowed to go anywhere. It was boring but we were allowed to play on our PS4, which made it a little bit better.
6. I liked being able to play my game but didn’t like staying home all day, every day. Mum gave us jobs to do as well. When our school work arrived from the ministry it had our names on it. The packs were neat but some of the work was really hard to do and I needed help.
7. After the second week my mum picked our motorbike up from my nan's house. We were so excited to have our bike and to get to do something outside.
8. We had to take turns riding until Connor rode the bike into the window and it smashed. The window man had to come and fix it the next day. Because of that we weren’t allowed to ride the bike.
9. My dad had to work all through lockdown. When he would get home from work he had to come in through the garage and shower in the end bathroom before coming in by us. His boss had heaps of rules that he had to follow.
10. My mum worked from home on her laptop. Then she had to look after us. On week 4 of lockdown we popped our bubble and went to stay at my nans house. This was the first time we had gone anywhere and everyone was so happy to see us.
11. We were a bit scared and weren’t too sure what we were meant to do. At my nans we learnt to play darts, card games and draughts until the other kids lost our pieces.
12. The longer lockdown went the more I was missing school and my friends but when we were allowed back at school, I was a little bit scared to be close to everyone.
13. Now that we have been at school for a while, I have gotten use to being near my friends and other people. But just because we are allowed to go out and do what we want doesn’t mean we stop being careful.
14. In my family we still follow some covid-19 rules and I think everyone else should too.
Thank you for listening to my speech.
